BEGA Handicap Page
BEGA is a USGA SANCTIONED Golf Club and as such our club follows the USGA handicap system as specified in USGA Handicap Manual.
Starting January 8, 2020, the USGA launched the World Handicap System. The new USGA Rules of Handicapping also now apply. A major change for BEGA is in the way you will calculate your score for handicap purposes. When posting scores, ESC (Equitable Stroke Control) is no longer being applied. Instead, the maximum posted score for a hole is now a net double bogey. For full details, reference Rule 3.1b in the USGA Rules of Handicapping.
Starting July 24 2020, BEGA Handicaps were transitioned to a newer system that incorporates most of the World Handicap System. Entry into that system is from the BEGA Portal as described below. You can look here for an explanation on how your index is applied at each course for league and tournament play. The calculation also already has the tee ratings accounted for so there isn’t a tee differential any longer, it’s built in.
